Why Being Authentic Makes You Successful
Wedding planning is such a high-touch business. We get really close to our clients, walk them through every step of the planning process then coordinate one of the biggest days of their lives.
Imagine that you are the bride searching for the best wedding planner for your own wedding. You read through websites to get a feel for the wedding planners in your area, meet with a few professional planners who seem to be a good fit then choose the planner who you connected with most and who “gets” you and your wedding vision.
In your wedding planning career, it’s critical to be exactly who you are so that your right bride can find you, connect with you and hire you. If you are quirky, don’t be afraid to show it. If you are weird, be weird (thank you to my friend Kara for sharing that one). If you are very religious, it’s okay to put that out there. If couture fashion and designer shoes are your top priorities in life, share that with your potential clients. There are brides who are going to love you and hire you for exactly who you are.
If you are a jeans and flip-flops girl who adores rustic chic weddings but your business brand is downtown couture weddings, you can only keep up that charade for a short time until it hurts you and your business. Be authentic. It’s the only way to achieve long term success in this industry.
