For many planners in our community, the fall and winter seasons are the slowest time of year for events. If you are one of those planners, you are approaching the time of year when you can focus on your business instead of your client’s weddings. So, what do you do with that time? 

I have chatted with many planners who have a pattern of wrapping up their last event and then they avoid work until the wedding show/engagement season begins. We ALWAYS encourage you to take a break and create as much work/life balance as possible, but this avoidance habit creates more stress when you shift back into booking mode. Today, I want to share some knowledge I have gathered from planners and wedding professionals about wrapping up one wedding season and preparing for the next with as much ease as possible. 

• Wrap up all events from the season. This might include sending vendor thank you notes, a final satisfaction survey to your clients, gathering all images you can use for future marketing, and resolving any loose ends. 
• Assess the season. What went well? What do you want to change? Do you need to hire? Audit how your season went and start planning for the changes you want to make for the upcoming season. 
• Prepare any holiday tasks. If you plan to send any client/vendor gifts or holiday cards, plan those now so you are not scrambling in December. 
• Prepare for engagement season. Update your pricing, portfolio, and marketing materials for the upcoming booking season. 
• Plan for next year. Planning for the next year means creating a marketing plan, determining how many events you will book, and blocking off any time that you do not want to book events. 

If you tackle these five tasks at the end of the current season, it will set you up for success. All of these things have to be done, so why wait until the last minute? Is there anything that you do in your wedding planning business at the end of your season to make the off-season more productive?
