What is your typical day like?
There isn’t a typical day, but I love the variety that my schedule offers.
After checking my emails, Facebook and Instagram, I typically spend some time with my husband before he goes to work. I do a few things around the house and then start to attack my goals/ list for the day.
While at my home office, I spend time reading and replying to emails and voicemail messages. I reach out to vendors, schedule meetings, create event timelines, edit vendor information, review wedding budgets, update client information, and address inquiries.
If I don’t have a lunch meeting scheduled, I usually have leftovers, a salad or a sandwich. After a productive afternoon, I may run errands, as I start to think about dinner. After dinner, I usually log on to my computer again to work more.
Many days I have networking events, property tours, vendor meetings, or coffee dates.
How did you get started in the industry?
My degree is in Hospitality and Tourism management. I spent the first 10 years of my career in management roles of prominent establishments in New York City, including Lincoln Center and in the private club industry. A mutual friend was a wedding planner and needed help. I assisted her for years, and that led me to assist other planners before I had the opportunity to leave my corporate job and launch my own wedding planning business. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner.
What inspires you?
My friends and family inspire my entrepreneurship journey. I cherish my time with them and having my own business often allows me the flexibility to enjoy time with my loved ones.
Traveling anywhere, trying new ethnic restaurants, discovering quaint little towns, and being outdoors all inspire my creativity. I also love attending concerts, live theater, reading books, watching movies, and perusing Instagram.
What are your favorite online resources for your business?
B is for Bonnie is one of my most recent discoveries. She and her website are a great resource for small business owners. I also find great value in messages on Think Splendid and I respect the advice of The Business of Being Creative.
Aside from wedding and event planning, how do you spend your time?
I love trying new cuisines and enjoy a glass of red wine in an oversized glass. My husband and I go on local adventures, enjoy walking around our town, and spending a cozy night at home in front of our fireplace.
Our long weekend in Quebec City was magical. I love visiting my niece and nephew in Wisconsin. Hawaii was magnificent. Costa Rica was an amazing vacation with my dearest friends. My brother and I met in Nashville last year and enjoyed eating our way through Music City and even got to see Vince Gill perform up close and personal. I’ve had very good travel fortune in my life and I am always ready for my next adventure big or small.
