What is your typical day like?
I start my morning with my daily devotional reading and a cup of tea. During the week, I’m heading out the door around 7 or so to drop my son off at school. I head back home to get my workday started around 8am.
My tasks are prioritized by what has to get done today. I usually start with my social media marketing. Making sure my scheduled post is up. I’m checking and responding to emails and scheduling consultations. Then I tackle creating wedding and event timelines, making adjustments to wedding budgets, and invoicing clients. Some days involve face-to-face meetings with clients and/or vendors.
I attend a few wedding industry networking events during the week as well. This allows me to connect with other vendors in the industry. I also make time to visit venues, new and old, to stay updated on the properties and the new contacts.
How did you get started in the industry?
Growing up, my parents always entertained or hosted big events. So naturally, it was in me to throw fab parties. I started getting asked to help friends and family with milestone events and then weddings.
I became a Certified Wedding Planner through The Bridal Society which was one of the best choices I could have made for my business. Every year I continue to invest in my education by attending different wedding planner conferences such as Wedding MBA, The Planner Suite, and Let’s Plan Conference to grow not only me but my business. I was also able to intern with one of the best in the business, Kevin Lee Weddings.
What inspires you?
I’m inspired by visual blogs, magazines and Pinterest, but I’m even more inspired by building architecture such as the Marty Leonard Community Chapel, walking around the different towns I travel too, or museums I have visited. I love poems and quotes; they inspire me to bring those words to life.
What are your favorite online resources for your business?
Aisle Planner and Honeybook are two of the resources I use for my business. I’m able to communicate, send contracts, accept payments, create timelines, and design in these platforms.
Aside from wedding and event planning, how do you spend your time?
I love to travel, cook, and spend time with my family. My 10 year old son is heavily involved in sports so I’m a team mom for his football and track club. I travel with both organizations. I also belong to an awesome book/dinner club.
