What is your typical day like?

ZuriLife Events is one of the few bridal fashion styling businesses in Houston. We focus on styling the bride and helping her bring her bridal vision to life. A typical day for me starts at 8 am with a cup of coffee & bagel, checking emails, and ZLE website submissions.  Mondays and Tuesdays are the days I research the latest bridal trends and any new bridal boutiques in the local area.  A grill market salad from chick fila is my go-to lunch most days. After lunch, I work on my clients’ bridal looks, wedding brooms designs, and bridal celebrations that I am planning and scheduling bridal boutique appointments. I usually end my day with dinner and 30-minute meditation with my two amazing sons.

How did you get started in the industry?

I spent many of my early years watching my mom sew clothes for friends and family. She truly inspired me. In 1995 I joined the Navy as a Logistics Specialist (retired in 2015). I coordinated numerous military events. I learned I had a natural talent for creating visions and organizing events. After planning my sister’s wedding as well as styling her and the bridesmaids, I knew I had to join the bridal industry. I started interning for Elite Eventz, then worked for Posh & Private, one of Houston’s top event planning teams. I am currently working with NMA Couture (Wedding dress designer). I assist with styling models for all her photo shoots and events. What better way to combine my passions: styling beautiful brides and planning bridal events. Knowing that I made a Bride feel her most beautiful on her wedding day brings me so much joy! ZuriLife Events & Bridal Styling was born in 2020.

What inspires you?

Tulum is one place that inspires me when it comes to showers and celebration décor’; Munalunchi Bridal magazines have a permanent home on my desk.  I love the layout, the photography, and the information inside. The Knot is one of my go-to magazines as Brides of Houston. I am always inspired by the Lauran Ashley Experience website and IG page. She does an amazing job as an Event Planner and has now incorporated interior designs into the brand. Laura Ashely’s mix of colors & textures, grind, and positivity motivates me.  I can’t forget my obsession with vintage wedding gowns; they are a big inspiration too.

Aside from wedding and event planning, how do you spend your time?

I try to go thrift shopping at least twice a month; I enjoy music festivals, Women Empowerment events, and biking with my boys on Sundays. My favorite vacation spot thus far is Dubai. I believe in self-reflection, daily resets, and self-gratification.  It’s imperative to do what you love and love what you do! YOLO*
