Sometimes we get so busy doing everything we are “supposed” to do that we end up doing things we are not passionate about.

When starting a new business or career, we often follow the crowd and do what everyone else has done. I am all for this thinking in the beginning. Why reinvent the wheel? The problem lies in continuing to follow the crowd as your new business and career grow. If we keep following the crowd, we never get any further than the crowd AND we tend to lose sight of doing the work we truly love.

For example, if every event planner in your local area is offering the same three general wedding planning services but your passion lies solely in event design or in social parties, you are never going to be happy if you follow the local crowd.

What is it that you absolutely LOVE to do? Maybe it is planning weddings, perhaps it is designing parties, or maybe you just love running a planning business but don’t actually like to do the planning yourself.

There is no “right” or “wrong” way. Just your way. Do you LOVE what you do in your career? Does the current way you run your business really work for you?
