7 Ways To Know If You Are Ready to Start Using Pinterest For Marketing Your Wedding Business
Seeing as most of your ideal clients hang out on Pinterest – this platform is one to strongly consider adding to your marketing strategy. Being a visual search engine, Pinterest does operate very differently from other social media platforms, so before diving in, there are several factors to consider. Let’s discover seven ways to know if you are ready to start using Pinterest for marketing your wedding business!
The first step would be to identify who your target audience is, what their interests are, and if they are using Pinterest to discover new ideas and inspiration. For the wedding industry – that would be a resounding yes! According to Sprout Social, forty million people a year utilize Pinterest to plan for their weddings. There are 378 million wedding-related searches per year on Pinterest, so, without question, this would definitely be an area to focus your marketing efforts!
Pinterest is a visual search engine that relies on content creators to share visually appealing and engaging images. Therefore it is important to ensure you have a stock of high-quality images and videos that showcase your work. Ideally, you should have a blog, plus no shortage of portfolios to share with your audience.
Whilst it is possible to create new images that lead back to old content, this is not a sustainable practice for continuing success on Pinterest. The Pinterest algorithm loves fresh content that has not been seen before – so this means sharing both new images and URLs on a regular basis. Ideally, you would want to ensure you are creating a new blog post or sharing a portfolio at least twice a month.
For Pinterest marketing to be successful, it starts with an optimized account. This involves carrying out
extensive keyword research and optimizing your profile and boards with these keywords. You will need a business account with a claimed website and an optimized bio. Boards will need to be created and keyworded that reflect your brand, your content, and your target audiences’ interests.
What some people fail to realize is that your website plays a large role in your success on Pinterest. Yes, Pinterest is a great tool for driving traffic to your website – but if your website is not set up for conversion, then those visitors will quickly click off. Make sure your website leads your visitors on a journey. If they land on your blog post from Pinterest – where do you want them to go next? What action do you want them to take so that you can convert them from visitors into leads and ultimately into clients!
As with any platform, you will need to dedicate a certain amount of time, effort, and money in order to see success. Thankfully there are a couple of apps to help shave off a considerable amount of time when it comes to content creation and scheduling. For pin design, Canva is a lifesaver – with many templates (free and paid) to choose from, it makes graphic design a breeze. Secondly, Tailwind (Affiliate link) is a massive time saver when it comes to scheduling pins in a strategic way. This is pretty much a necessity when it comes to Pinterest Marketing and also boasts many other features – such as a ghostwriter tool to help aid in writing pin descriptions! This does come at a cost but will be a game-changer. You can also use Tailwind for scheduling Facebook & Instagram posts, and they do introduce new features on a regular basis.
Pinterest is a long game – patience is key, as well as utilizing the analytics to see what is working and what isn’t. It is not always linear growth, so you need to be prepared to adapt and change your strategy from time to time to keep pace.
In summary, if you have a clear understanding of your target audience, quality visual content, an optimized profile, a content strategy, patience, and the ability to track results, then you may be ready to start marketing on Pinterest.
