3 Marketing Mistakes You May Be Making
In my coaching practice for wedding and event planners, I often see three major mistakes that that planners do to sabotage their business. Are these things holding you back from the success you desire?
1) Not following up with potential clients
It amazes me how many business owners will talk to a potential client or have a great consultation but never follow up. It isn’t up to your potential client to make the next step. Follow up, let them know how much you would like to work with them, answer their questions. Be a leader and let the potential client know what the next step is to start working with you.
2) Fumbling when talking about what you charge
Many planners get nervous when talking about their prices. Usually they are worried about what the potential client is going to think, and whether or not they can afford what you charge. This happens when you haven’t fully embraced the incredible value that your planning services provide. When you finally understand the worth of your work as a professional event planner, you’ll be able to share your prices with confidence. In the mean time, this is one of those places you where you have to fake confidence until you feel it. If you are wishy washy about your prices, a potential client will quickly lose faith in your ability to be a strong event planner.
3) Not investing in yourself
If you don’t invest in yourself with training, coaching and education, why would potential clients be willing to invest in you? If we are not willing to further our education and get the help we need to learn more about design, planning or business, how can we expect others to hire us for our expertise to plan an event?
Have you made any of these mistakes? If so, don’t stress about it. As long as we learn from our mistakes, we can have the success we desire. The problem comes when you know these mistakes are holding you back but refuse to make a change.
