Handling Food and Cake
Each state in the United States has rules for catering and handling food that is served at events. As event planners, we should not handle the catered food or cake served at our client’s events. This includes cutting the cake, preparing food, transporting food and transporting cakes. If food poisoning occurs, you could be sued if you handled or transported the food that caused a guest to become ill.
If you provide services that involve food preparation, contact your state health department to obtain the appropriate licenses then contact your insurance company for liability insurance for food service.
