What is your typical day like?
My days are comprised of balancing my full-time job and my passion as an event planner. As such, a typical day for me begins around 5 am, when I wake up to respond to emails and inquiries I may have received overnight. Once this is complete, I pray, workout, get dressed, walk my dog Riley, and head off to work. I generally save community service, networking opportunities, and client consults for the latter half of my evening after I leave work. Once I get home, I wind down with dinner and review/plan out my next steps based on my client’s needs.
Overall, I schedule my days so that the bulk of my work for The Fête Loft is done during the early mornings, evenings, and weekends. I thrive off of schedules, and with my Passion Planner, I’m allowed to plan out every detail of my day by the hour. I ensure that my schedule allows me time to devote towards maintaining my website, social media accounts, and researching innovative ways to enhance my business.
How did you get started in the industry?
I LOVE logistics! Creating timelines is so exciting to me. I love creating and identifying all of the moving parts of an event and watching it all work out in sync. I also enjoy the coordinating and design aspect of the business. Within my circle of friends, I was always the “planner.” I would organize the birthday parties and special valentines surprises for friend’s boyfriends. I would also plan the events for organizations that I was a part of in school.
After having several successful experiences, I decided to take another step and sought out an internship with various event planners. This blossomed into several different experiences, providing me with the opportunity to work with some of Atlanta and Washington DC’s most talented event planners. What stuck with me the most were the clients and the joy I received from being able to witness their special occasions and being able to make their dreams a reality.
After years of working under my mentors, I decided to launch The Fête Loft to work even closer with clients. I took The Planners Lounge’s 20 Days to a More Profitable Business course and implemented the key principles into my event planning business.
Where do you find design inspiration?
I get a lot of my design inspiration from shopping, my environment, and surprisingly, the color wheels in the paint section at Home Depot. I observe the various colors, patterns, textures, and the emotions that are invoked in the process of experiencing them. In addition, traveling to different countries and cities inspires me, and the aesthetics of each place also drives inspiration.
