What is your typical day like?
I wake up at 6:20, making breakfast and preparing the kids. We depart from home at 7:10. I drive them to kindergarten & school. I arrive back home at about 8:00, drink coffee, having breakfast and start my day. I always write my tasks in my diary. There are tasks for the specific day and for the week. I usually work on 10-11 weddings at the same time, so I must be very effective. I prioritize the things and always start with the urgent ones. I have online calls with couples and personal meetings as well. I have lunch at 12:30 and then carry on my work. I have a small corner for my desk and stuff in our house, but I work a lot at the balcony. At 15:30 I go to pick the kids up. From 16:00 until 20:00 it is their time. After they went to bed, I sort out some e-mails, make social media posts and at about 22:00 I do my daily workouts. I go to bed at about 23:00 or 0:00.
How did you get started in the industry?
I was working at an international law firm in Budapest. I organized events as well there. I have a master’s degree in communication, so I always liked to work with people. In 2010 a lawyer asked me to plan his wedding. He was a guy from Mauritius and the bride was Hungarian. I said well, okay… but I was shocked and afraid of doing it, so I enrolled a wedding planner course. I had their wedding, my first wedding in 2011 and it went so well! I started my official business in 2012 besides my law firm job and I am a full-time planner since 2015. Nowadays I am doing the Wedding Academy’s Advanced course, because I think you always can improve yourself to a next level.
What inspires you?
Kylie Lang, the owner of the Wedding Academy and my mentor, Zoe McKeown, and my students. I teach beginner planners since 2018. Of course, my couples inspire me a lot too.
What are your favorite online resources for your business?
Brides Magazine, the Wedding Academy’s website and Instagram page and Planner’s Lounge.
Aside from wedding and event planning, how do you spend your time?
My 3 children, sport and singing.
