What is your typical day like?
A typical day consists of me first waking up with the chickens (5am) to check in on social media. I love to see what my wedding colleagues are up to and to get the latest bridal industry updates from my favorite wedding blogs. Next, I check my email and respond to vendors and brides. I make it a point to get back to my brides within 24 hours so this is a daily must!
Once I am up and about, I review my task list which outlines my “Do Now”, “Do Today”, and “Do Tomorrow” items. Once I have a game plan, my mornings are typically spent doing research for my clients, reviewing and finalizing contracts, and working on event design concepts. My afternoons are typically consumed with vendor appointments or meetings with brides. Most of my brides work full-time jobs so I sometimes have meetings until 8pm. For my long-distance brides, we may have a Skype meeting or conference call to discuss the planning.
After a full day, I look forward to spending quality time with my husband and our yorkie, CoCo.
How did you get started in the industry?
I have worked in the event planning industry for three years planning weddings and events in Raleigh, NC and Winston-Salem, NC. My passion for weddings was born out of my own experience of planning my wedding. Based on my experience of going through the wedding planning process alone and other women who have shared their stories, I made it my mission to help bride’s navigate through the wedding planning process knowledgeably with the help of professional guidance, attention to detail, knack for coordination and style savvy.
Where do you find design inspiration?
I find a lot of my design inspiration from Style Me Pretty. This blog is a fantastic creative resource. They showcase phenomenally detailed weddings that show the couple’s individual wedding style. I also derive much of my design inspiration from my clients. It is tremendously important to infuse my couple’s style into their wedding design. No cookie cutter weddings for me! Many of my brides also keep Pinterest boards and this serves as a great way for me to get an instant snapshot of their wedding day vision.
What are your favorite online resources for your business?
Style Me Pretty, Munaluchi Bridal, Grey Likes Weddings, Martha Stewart Weddings, Pinterest, The Appy Couple
