What is your typical day like?
My day starts early as a single mompreneur. My son and I are up by 6:30. After he gets dropped off at school, it’s off to my daytime career as a trained paralegal. I typically deal with my event business on my breaks where I return calls, answer emails, update social media, and do a little marketing.
It’s all about balance. I’m not sure if my day really ends. In the evening, I spent time with my little guy. After he goes off to bed, I’m on the computer working on my blog. I joke that my son is my silent business partner. If I have an event to set up for, he may come along with me where he’ll carry in something which makes him feel like part of the team (he’s 5 years old).
One little secret that I can share is that I do a lot of silent driving when I’m by myself. It helps clear my head, plan my day without having to write anything down, and just take the time to be grateful for another day. A lot of my staging setup ideas come from those silent drives.
How did you get started in the industry?
Our company is family-owned and operated. We have our own in-house DJ, light guy, and mani-pedi specialist for spa parties. Friends and family actually encouraged us to move forward and start our company. You know the saying, friends and family are always your first customers. Well, in this case, they are also our biggest supporters. Also, I studied event planning through an online school.
Where do you find design inspiration?
I’m addicted to Pinterest and I admire the work of other planners and designers. There are many talented men and women out there doing this and they provide so much inspiration to me. I also draw inspiration from interior designers, graphic designers, and photographers. They teach me about color combinations, lighting, designing, and much more. My Instagram is filled with those inspirations.
What are your favorite online resources for your business?
Pinterest, Planner’s Lounge, Hostess with the Mostess, Martha Stewart, Diane Valentine, Colin Cowie, and Rent My Wedding.

If you are an event planner and would like to be featured, download our questionnaire today and email it to us along with a photo.
