What is your typical day like?
My day revolves around my early morning cup of coffee and answering emails during quiet time of 6:30 am – 8:00am. Next, I do things that make me money! I take care of balancing my bank account, invoicing clients, and then I pay bills. The afternoon is used for scheduling conference calls, consultations, and site visits.
I typically take a break to spend time with my family for a late lunch or dinner or shopping trip. Later that evening, I spend a few hours working on timelines, floor plans, and other social media. I have declared Sunday a computer-free day, I unplug and take time for me. I have a loft studio that allows me to separate home for work and have a balanced life.
How did you get started in the industry?
I planned my first wedding when I was 18 for a neighbor and I never lost my love for planning weddings. I have a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees. Education has always be very important to me and one of the main reasons why I also have a certificate in wedding coordination from Georgia Perimeter College and Master Bridal Consultant accreditation from Association of Bridal Consultant. I also attend several wedding/event seminars each year to brush up on my skills. My corporate experience in operations and logistics has helped me grow my business.
Where do you find design inspiration?
I’m inspired by life and my surroundings whether it is the color of an evening sunset, abstract objects, or ways to repurpose an old item. I’m drawn to interior design magazines and fashion bloggers.
What are your favorite online resources for your business?
www.planningpod.com – I use planning pod as client based management software to run my business. It allows to me do online scheduling, payments, and document sharing with my clients.
www.canva.com – Canva is fun design software.
www.pinterst.com – I use Pinterest everyday to search for new ideas or to set up a client secret board to collaborate with my clients.
