What is your typical day like?
A typical day for me is crazy as I currently work a full-time job. Therefore, my attention to my event business mainly happens during my lunch hour, in the evenings, and on the weekends. Typical evenings are spent responding to emails, reviewing vendor contracts, conference calls with clients, writing blogs, and scheduling Facebook posts.
How did you get started in the industry?
I have always loved to entertain. I always threw the best theme parties. My friends and family would frequently call on me to help plan their events. I started out doing wedding planning for friends and family. I finally had an aha moment, “I love to plan events…this gives me joy”. I decided to open up my own event planning business. I received my event planning certification from Correlations, Inc. in 2010.
What inspires you?
I love using Pinterest. I usually talk to my clients about their colors and theme ideas and then I go on Pinterest and create a vision board for them. I also love reading wedding blogs and online wedding magazines. Some of my favorites are Belle the Magazine, Inside Weddings, and Loverly.
What are your favorite online resources for your business?
My favorite business online resources are wedding planner sites: Planners Lounge, Weddings for a Living, and Confetti Radio.
Aside from wedding and event planning, how do you spend your time?
I love to spend time with my family and friends. My daughter is a senior in high school so most of my spare time lately has been helping her plan for college. We recently started our search for senior prom dresses. This is a fun and exciting time for my daughter and I.
