What is your typical day like?
Before the COVID 19 shut down occurred, I was working part time in the dental field and part time on my event planning business. Because my business is new, I was using my day job to help fund and grow my event planning business.
I was laid off from the dental field because of the pandemic, and now I get to spend a lot of time working on my event planning business. A typical day includes eating breakfast and lunch, tutoring my kids with distance learning programs, and troubleshooting how to land clients during this chaotic downtime. Working with my wedding clients who had 2020 wedding dates has been the most challenging part of my days but highly rewarding.
How did you get started in the industry?
I grew up in the festival industry alongside my sisters and mother. We volunteered for many festivals in the California area. This inspired me tremendously to pursue a career in the event planning industry.
I’d always be the one to plan events and parties for my high school class. Friends and family enjoyed my artistic design ideas and my help for their events as well. In July of 2019 at 27 years of age, I decided to go for my dreams and start my own event planning business. Since then I’ve booked events with the CA Buena Vista Me-Wuk Indian tribe, several weddings, baby showers, and birthday parties.
What inspires you?
Mindy Weiss is one of many celebrity event planners that inspires me to be great. I also find watching wedding and event videos on YouTube very helpful for inspiration. I just recently started watching Fairy Tale Weddings on Disney Plus for fun and find it very inspiring. I recommend wedding planners check it out!
What are your favorite online resources for your business?
Pinterest would be one of my first choices. I also would recommend Squarespace for any event or wedding planner looking for an affordable website that is easy to use and navigate.
Aside from wedding and event planning, how do you spend your time?
I like to cook, travel, and organize. I love finding new ways to create props for my business. I always strive to be a great inspiration for my kids.
