Why Your Wardrobe Matters
What do you wear when you meet with your current and potential clients? Are you showing off your personal style? Are you dressed in your best career clothes? Are you wearing jeans and heels?
Any of these styles can be perfectly fine if it fits your brand. If your website, logo and marketing materials are vintage inspired, your style in clothes and accessories should reflect that same image when you meet with clients and attend networking events. If your brand shows you as the ultimate professional, showing up in jeans will send mixed messages to clients and vendors. As event planners, you are a reflection of your brand at all times.
This also applies to the location where you meet clients. If you are selling a luxury brand, meet clients in an upscale hotel, at their event venue or at a local trendy restaurant if you don’t have your own studio space. Trying to sell luxury while meeting at Starbucks just doesn’t work. It doesn’t send the right message to potential clients. If you meet clients at your home, does your home and neighborhood fit the brand you are selling? Your brand will change and evolve over time and you may need to evaluate your wardrobe and meeting space to reflect the changes.

Much love !
Thanks for your comment Kate and welcome to the community here!
Great tip Debbie! I really do believe how you dress is a huge reflection about what type of style/branding you are aiming for. Great suggestion on the meet up location. I’m more of the vintage/whimsy style but am finding it a bit hard to find a space locally where I live that’s like that. Will look into that though!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts Lorraine! I love that you know your own style.
So true Debbie, dress for success!!! If you show you care about your appearance, the client will translate that into how much you care about her wedding. If you run out the door and throw yourself together, will you treat her wedding the same way?
So very true Kelli! Thank you for your comment!
