Design Tools for Weddings
Previously, I have written about how a bride and groom can come up with an out-of-the-box idea or with a concept that has way too many elements. As the wedding planner, you have to find a way to take their vision and create a design that encompasses what they are dreaming up. Today we have so many different ways to access ideas and design with social media and the internet, it becomes difficult for a bride and groom to really hone in on one or two main features of a wedding to center everything else around.
Here are some useful tools to consider taking advantage when coming up with an event design:
These are obviously only a very, very select few of the event design tools that can assist you and a wedding couple as you come up with an event design. Feel free to share your favorites and ideas in the comment. The more ways we as wedding planners can stay organized, the better it is for everyone!
This is a guest post from Christine Bochniak. Christine resides in Galena, IL where she works as an Author Account Manager for Kendall Hunt Publishing. She also works as a wedding coordinator part-time for her own business Rise Events Planning.

What kind of design tools are there to create 3D floor plan/design mock ups?
Cait, there are programs from All Seated and 3D Event Designer that you can check out as well as Social Tables.
Thanks so much, Debbie! I had looked into All Seated and Social Tables but found they weren’t quite what I was looking for. 3D Event Design looks perfect though!
Another great tool to use is Colourlovers.com. Its a another way to create a color palette for any type of weddings. You can upload an inspirational photo and it will automatically create a color palette based on that photo. You can also choose what colors to use as the color blocking and accents.
This website has helped me when I’m creating a mood boards for my design projects. And I hope this will help you as well!
Thanks Sarah!
What the tools do I need to show the client my design for the wedding? How can I explain my idea? Is it necessary to have samples of the materials for display?
Thank you for your questions Nora. Every designer does it a bit different. Some create a storyboard with samples of materials while others may do a Powerpoint slide show. It depends on what you feel most comfortable with. Try out a few things and see what works best for you.
