What is your typical day like?
I have two beautiful children so getting them out of the house is most important. That in itself is a task. I wake up around 6:30am and answer my emails from clients, vendors, or any other wedding related emails I need to take care of. I then get my kids up and out of the door by 7:40am. Once I see them off, it is very important for me to do some type of exercise either yoga or running. It really helps me to focus better and gives me that boost of energy I need to hit the ground running and working on my business during the day! I follow that with daily meditation and prayer, which I can’t do without because that also helps me to stay aligned and focused with my purpose. Around 9:00am, I start my daily Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook posts. Social media presence is super important to me because that is where many brides and grooms are. After a late breakfast, I work on marketing, researching, and coming up with ideas to further brand myself in this wonderful career! When my children and amazing fiancé come home, it’s all about them. Family is number one in my life and having that balance is super important to me.
How did you get started in the industry?
I love talking about this when people ask. I actually got started in this industry by putting up a free craigslist ad while sitting at my desk working for a financial firm. I had no clue how to plan a wedding; my only event experience was planning small events for me and my family. What would someone like me know about wedding planning I thought? About a week after my little post, I received a call from a bride! I planned her entire wedding and also aided in the design as well. I recognized that it was definitely in me to create and plan events and I loved it! Flash forward to today and I have done close to 50 wedding and events in the New York area.
Where do you find design inspiration?
I’m in love with pretty, bling, and glamorous things. Pinterest is my favorite tool for design inspiration. I always tell my fellow colleagues that Pinterest is the devil. I can stay on Pinterest all day. I also draw inspiration from my clients. Listening to dreams and turning them into a wonderful vision is the BEST inspiration that any wedding planner can have.
What are your favorite online resources for your business?
Planners Lounge is so informative and offers great business advice to wedding planners. I also like the Style Me Pretty, Wedding Chicks and the WedLuxe blogs.

Simone, sounds like you have got your routine down…thank you for your wonderful words! I am semi new to the industry and was wondering if you could tell me some great magazines or journals to subscribe to? Ones that can inspire and also help the business aspect of this career? Thank you!
HI Kelly. Well, I hope I have a good schedule down. Some days it gets all turned around but at least I have something solid in place! For magazines, I love the Wedding Planner Magazine from the Association of Bridal Consultants. Also, Inspired Smart Success is a good mag for people in the industry. Subscribe to Biz Bash Mag if you can. That is free as well. And also there are magazines like The Knot, Brides, and etc. You can cut and paste pics all year round of things that inspire you out of the mags. Good luck!!
