What is your typical day like?
My working day starts at 8:30 am, after leaving my kids at school. I usually go through the social networks first and respond to comments and messages, then I manage emails. According to my daily schedule, I follow my marketing plan or deal with vendors or customers.
After having a light lunch with my daughter, I go back to work and continue until dinner time. It frequently happens that I need to complete some tasks after dinner, but I am trying to avoid this in order to have more time to spend with my family. Of course, this routine is completely different during wedding seasons, when I need to meet or have calls with customers every day.
How did you get started in the industry?
After getting my degree in Public Relations, I had a job as a secretary for a famous Italian architect and then started working for a German company in the communications department. I had the opportunity to develop many skills required to manage events, how to deal with foreign colleagues, and taking part of the company’s international marketing strategy.
With more than ten years experience in planning fairs, meetings, and events, plus doing web marketing and much more, I was inspired to start my own business. Having always been fond of weddings, design, and fashion, I took several wedding planning courses to get a detailed and professional education in the field. Actually, I am always trying to improve my skills by following blogs and watching webinars. I run my business helping both Italian and foreign couples plan their weddings.
Where do you find design inspiration?
I usually read a lot: that means on the web and in traditional magazines and books too. My favorite online blogs are Glamour and Grace, Style Me Pretty, and The Perfect Palette. On these sites, I find lots of inspiration and really amazing pictures and color schemes.
When I need to develop a design project, I first take quick notes in my paper folder, since I still love using a pen; then I copy all of the information to my Mac to implement all the information with design tools.
What are your favorite online resources for your business?
Of course Planner’s Lounge helped me a lot, and still continues to do so: I definitively love the checklists and the guides from the Wedding Planner’s Toolbox! I also use online applications such as Evernote to have all my notes on every device, wherever I go.
