Self Development

On a Scale of 1 to 10

  1. Josie Coccia says:

Thank you very much for this post, Debbie. I needed this today! It’s good to know that I am not alone, either. And with social media these days, it’s easy to feel inferior when looking at all the other planners posting how successful their business is and all the clients that they have coming in, etc.

  2. […] design events.  Even if your event design skills go from a “1″ to a “5″ on the scale of experience and talent, there are potential clients who are at “0″ and will gladly pay for your level 5 […]

Thanks for this. some people forget where they was when they had just stated as with anything, you get better
at it each time but only if you willing to be your best.

    Hello Debbie,

I appreciate the Planner’s lounge and this post especially. I have been working on my planning career for a few years but still have not found that faith that I can go full time and be successful. This helps encourage me and give me the confidence I need to keep working hard at it. I would like to know more about how to do a coaching session you mentioned? I am looking for more guidance and knowledge! Please advise!

    Thank you.

Mandi, thank you for your wonderful comment and for being part of the Planner’s Lounge community. I just emailed you a response.

  5. Tracey says:

This is an excellent topic. I have list to check my list when I’m planning & executing an event. LOL It’s nerve wracking when you think you have forgotten to do something and I still get nervous at the beginning of every event that I do, praying that everything goes well and it does with very few glitches.

  6. Monica says:

Debbie: Just wanted you to know I really love the Planners Lounge. I look forward to the posts, comments & advice that is given, thank you for creating the Planners Lounge. Keep up the good work.

I feel like this post is just for me!!! Thank you for sharing this information. Being that I’ve only been in the business for a short time, I’m always wondering if I’m good enough or if I should throw the towel in, this post comes at the right time…I will continue to push forward and do the best I can.

I needed to read this. I started my business about a year ago. i have only done 2 events. I don’t understand why i am not getting business. Can you give me some advice how you attract clients? Thanks for being here.

    • Debbie says:

Thank you for the comment Sheila. I appreciate you being part of the community. You may want to consider a coaching session so that I can evaluate your services and marketing then give you solid ideas on what to change so you can get more business.

  9. Great post. Even though I have done a number of weddings, I still get the jitters when I take on a new client, and question whether or not I have what it takes. I have learned to feel the jitters and keep pushing, usually amazing myself as well as the bride.

    • Debbie says:

Thank you for the comment Courtney. I still get the jitters sometimes too. I think it’s totally natural no matter how much experience you have.

  10. Amy says:

Wow! What a great reminder for those of us with just a few years of experience. Thank you for this!

  11. Samantha says:

Thank you for this! I’ve felt this way before and as I learn more, I’m learning to be more confident in my skills and expertise.

    • Debbie says:

Thank you for the comment Samantha. I’m so glad this post was helpful for you!

    • roberta stevens says:

Samantha, I to have felt that way to the point I turned down the opportunity to do work. Now I think I have my confidence back I have to do a grand opening for a cupcake store and I am drawing a plank as to what to do.
