I know wedding and event planners who are afraid to hand out their business cards or tell people who they are and what they do.
When you are able to do that confidently, you have made a big jump over into the entrepreneur mindset and into a successful career in our industry.
No one is going to promote you or care about what you have to offer more than you.
If you want to have success in your event planning business, you have to learn to promote yourself and become comfortable with it. It may seem a bit scary at first to put yourself out there but you will build confidence with every small step you take to promote your talent and services.
Successful entrepreneurs are willing to do whatever it takes. Hand out those business cards, introduce yourself to someone new, shake that person’s hand, and speak confidently about what you do and how you can offer value to others. Invite people to check out your website and connect with you on Twitter and Facebook. Share your work and successes.
You may receive criticism for doing this but realize that the criticism comes from those who want to do what you are doing. Concentrate on your bigger picture and your future success. Self promotion doesn’t have to be pushy or solely self serving. It doesn’t mean constant bragging either. Think of it as making your services and success more known so that more of your ideal clients can find you.
