SEO for Wedding Planners | Long Tail Keywords
As you are reading this, you are probably on a quest to make your blog or website more popular or findable on search engines like Google. SEO, or search engine optimization, is the practice of using those search engines to your advantage. SEO can definitely feel like a daunting task.
Becoming findable on Google is achieved using a specific set of keywords on your website. Most people make the mistake of implementing their SEO strategy by using the same keywords that everyone else uses. The keywords they have chosen are highly competitive… because every other wedding planner is using them! It is incredibly difficult to rank well on Google for the most popular sets of keywords. You need your keywords to be as unique as possible. The idea of unique keywords brings us to the subject of long tail keywords.
You probably associate keywords being just one word. One example would be the using the keyword ‘wedding planner’. You could use wedding planner, but just imagine how many wedding planners there are in the English speaking world.
However, if you are in a specialized event planning business, you might use something more specific like ‘outdoor wedding event planning’. To increase your uniqueness, you could add a location, for example, ‘Wedding Planner in Los Angeles, California’. While these keywords are still pretty common, they are a more unique search term than ‘wedding planner’. These kinds of specific keyword phrases are going to bring you a much higher ranking and they have less competition because fewer people will be using them.
It’s actually quite easy to come up with keywords. Google has a free tool to help you research keywords, the Google Keyword Tool. Master this resource!! It can help you see which keywords are popular, which are not popular, and which keywords have the lowest and highest search queries. Simply typing in one word in this tool will give you a wealth of keyword ideas.
Your ideal situation would be to use keyword phrases with low competition but a high enough number of searches to be worth ranking for.
Once you have decided on some of these long tail keywords, the next step is to begin inserting these keywords into the text on your website. You can include these keyword phrases in the text of your blog or article as well (as long as they work in a sentence without destroying the sentence).
This is a slow but steady way to help increase your page rank. As always, the more content the better. Remember to check the Google Keyword Tool regularly to ensure you are being consistent with current keyword trends. It’s important to stay current with the latest SEO rules to avoid common SEO mistakes made by wedding planners.
